The main detention facility sits at 401 Justice Boulevard, Griffin, GA 30224. This building serves as the Law Enforcement Complex for Spalding County. Administrative offices operate Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
Don’t mix this up with the Spalding County Correctional Institution at 295 Justice Boulevard. That’s a different facility run by the Georgia Department of Corrections for state inmates serving sentences.
The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office runs the jail. They handle all bookings and releases 24/7.

Start your search online before calling. The Sheriff’s Office provides an online portal called Sheriff2Citizen for searching inmates, bond amounts, and outstanding warrants. You’ll need the person’s full legal name for best results.
Can’t find them online? Call the jail directly at (770) 467-4286. New arrests take several hours to show up in the system. The booking process includes fingerprinting, photographing, and processing paperwork.
What the inmate roster tells you:
The detention center houses pre-trial detainees, post-trial inmates, and probationers. They also house inmates for the City of Griffin. Remember that arrest doesn’t equal guilt. Most people here await trial.
Traditional in-person visits no longer happen at this jail. Video visitation replaced face-to-face meetings, provided through JailATM.
Inmates have access to visitation kiosks between 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. You must register online first:
Registration requirements:
The first visit each week is free for 15 minutes. Additional visits cost money through the JailATM system.
Phone calls work differently. Inmates make outgoing calls only. No incoming calls accepted. They use prepaid accounts or collect calls through the jail’s phone service provider. All non-attorney calls get recorded.
Minors need an approved adult with them for visits. That adult must complete their own registration first.
First appearances for arrested persons follow Georgia timing: for warrantless arrests, a person must be brought before a judicial officer within 48 hours.
For arrests made on a warrant, the person must be brought before a judicial officer within 72 hours (see O.C.G.A. § 17-4-26).
Some misdemeanor charges get preset bonds after booking. More serious charges require seeing a judge first.
Bond types accepted:
The jail accepts different payment methods depending on timing. Cash, money orders, and cashier’s checks work during business hours. Credit cards accepted but add processing fees.
Release timing varies widely:
Property bonds require extra paperwork and take longer to process. The property must be in the county where arrest occurred.
Georgia law requires bondsmen to register with each county. The jail cannot recommend specific bond companies. Look for the list of approved bondsmen posted at the facility.
Medical staff provide basic healthcare inside the facility. This includes treatment for chronic conditions, emergency care, and mental health services. Privacy laws prevent staff from discussing inmate medical information with family.
Commissary orders happen through JailATM.com. Order cutoff for Spalding County commissary is 11:00 PM each Wednesday (per the Sheriff’s Office commissary policy).
Items available for purchase:
Adding money to inmate accounts:
Indigent inmates who have had less than $1.00 in their account for thirty (30) days or more may qualify for a care package per facility policy.
Georgia allows one food package per quarter, one property package monthly, and one snack/hygiene kit weekly through approved vendors. Orders must go through www.gacountypackages.com.
The detention center operates 24 hours daily, 365 days per year. Staff also transport inmates to medical appointments and mental health facilities.
Getting arrested throws everything into chaos. Family members scramble for information. Bills pile up while someone sits in jail. Court dates loom without preparation.
