Finding an Inmate at Fulton County Jail

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office provides an online inmate database updated once daily. Search by name or booking number through their website’s “Inmate Search” function.

Nothing showing up in the system? Contact the jail directly at (404) 613-2002 or head to the Rice Street lobby. Fresh arrests need several hours for processing before appearing in records.

The inmate search reveals:

  • Current charges filed
  • Bond amount set by judge
  • Housing location within facility
  • Next court date scheduled
  • Booking date and number

While staff work to process arrests promptly, timing depends on volume and availability of state and national database information. Weekend arrests face longer delays.

Arrestees must be presented to a judicial officer within 48 hours for warrantless arrests (72 hours if arrested on a warrant), per Georgia procedural timing.

Fulton County Jail Visitation Process

Effective May 15, 2024, the facility switched from Securus Technologies to IC Solutions for telephone and video visitation services. All visits now happen through video conferencing.

The jail uses a visitor video conferencing system with screens in a central area. Inmate housing areas have similar units, allowing them to interface with visitors.

Registration steps for video visitation:

  1. Log on to ICSolutions.com and create a new user account
  2. Complete all required fields
  3. Define your relationship with inmate
  4. Schedule your visit time
  5. Pay applicable fees

Inmates get two video visits daily based on their floor location. Visits last 30 minutes. Video visitation from home costs $0.25 per minute.

Visitor requirements:

  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Scheduled appointment (arrive 15 minutes early)
  • Visitors more than 10 minutes late forfeit their visit
  • Appropriate dress (no revealing clothing)
  • No electronic devices allowed inside

Out-of-state visitors living beyond 50 miles can visit without appointment once yearly with proof of address.

Criminal defense attorneys wanting unrecorded conversations must contact Jail Security at (404) 613-2181 before accepting calls.

Bond Information and Release Process

Cash bonds get processed 24 hours daily. The jail accepts specific payment methods depending on timing and amount.

Payment methods vary based on what you’re paying:

  • Cash, cashier’s checks, and postal money orders
  • Cashier’s checks must be payable to “Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in care of the arrestee’s name and booking number”
  • Cash bond payments using VISA, MASTERCARD, and DISCOVER/NOVUS can be processed online
  • Credit card transactions add processing fees

Each payment type has specific requirements. Wrong format means starting over, so double-check before arriving.

Bond processing follows strict timelines:

  • First appearance happens within 24 hours (for weekends, see judge the following Monday)
  • Property bonds require extensive documentation
  • Bondsmen charge up to 15% under Georgia law
  • Bond refunds are only processed at the Fulton County Courthouse, 185 Central Ave, 9th floor

The courthouse handles refunds separately from the jail. Plan accordingly for getting money back after case resolution.

Release timing varies based on:

  • Current facility volume
  • Additional holds or warrants
  • Processing requirements
  • Time of day

Property release requires 48 hours of processing after the inmate signs the release form. Recipients need a government-issued photo ID.

Jail Programs and Services

Fulton County Jail provides comprehensive support services, including food services, medical services, and facility maintenance.

The commissary offers snack foods, writing materials, stamps, toiletries, and clothing items.

Likewise, deposit minimums, maximums, and transaction fees vary by the county’s chosen vendor(s); check IC Solutions (or the county’s inmate funds vendor) for current limits and payment methods.

Money deposit options give families flexibility:

  • Online at ICSolutions.com
  • Lobby kiosk (cash only, $4.00 fee)
  • Money order mailed to the facility

These limits prevent exploitation while ensuring that inmates have access to necessities.
